SHED Implant
2012-2013
SHED is a long-term project that investigates an abandoned grain shed in a semi-rural habitat under suburban threat.
For this installation, I wove double-sided prints of a decaying forest floor into the shed walls. The photographs of decaying matter entangled the building as if subjecting it to a process of decline and regeneration. The prints were part of an ecosystem of unpredictable weather, barn swallow nesting, chewing insects and growing fungus in a summer-long collaboration between organic and human environments.
This project was made possible with the generous support of the Manitoba Arts Council.
