Bog Sensing
2022
I was invited by Estevan Art Gallery and Museum to create new site-specific work to be exhibited inside museum display cases throughout Woodlawn Regional Park. These installations are my attempt to evoke a visually immersive experience in response to the multi-dimensional world of the threatened bog biome. Solar energy transforms back-to-back photographs of living and dead Sphagnum moss throughout the day and activates them differently at night. These photo-based investigations are a meditation on the increasingly rare Sphagnum habitats and their capacity for resuscitation and preservation.
